Kids playing on the beach during a sunny day The June school holiday for kids is just around the corner. While this is a much-needed respite from school and other academic activities, it does not mean your kids should simply lounge around your home throughout the holiday.

There are many activities that you and your children can participate in across Singapore. From culturally-relevant trips to fun-filled water activities, here are some holiday diversions you should consider trying out.

SentosaFunFest

This exciting beach festival is something that the whole family can enjoy and should be on the list of your kid’s school holiday activities. An annual event, SentosaFunFest has a kid-friendly inflatable maze, foam pools and delicious food around the venue. Your kids will be kept physically active while having fun under the sun.

Peranakan Museum

Tap into the vibrant part of Peranakan Chinese heritage by celebrating the art of nyonya needlework at the Peranakan Museum. The museum, located at Armenian Street, has a year-long exhibit that ends on the 17th of June. Together with your kids, you can discover the creativity and skills of a culture that influenced Singapore’s multicultural environment.

Stargazing at The Observatory

Get lost among the stars with a free stargazing session at The Observatory. Located at the Omni-Theatre building, the sessions are available every Friday from 7:45 pm to 10:00 pm. Aside from the stars, your kids can also observe the planets Jupiter and Saturn starting the month of June.

The place also has a classroom for slide shows and astronomy lessons to enhance your stargazing experience.

MacRitchie Reservoir Park

Explore Singapore’s native biodiversity at MacRitchie Reservoir Park. It is a great venue for recreational activities for your kids. The entire family can take advantage of the park’s hiking trails, upgraded canoe shed and improved pontoon. You will not run out of things to do, both on land and in the water.
